Religious Education

Welcome to our new Religious Education page.

Last Christmas, the children at West Monkton Church of England School were busy supporting Operation Christmas Child.  Operation Christmas Child gives children of all ages in schools a great opportunity to share gifts that are personal to them with some of the poorest and most marginalised children in the world.

Many of the pupils were amazed when they learnt that their shoe box could be the first Christmas present that a child in the poorest parts of the world has ever received. Last year nearly 300 shoeboxes were collected between West Monkton School, and the congregations at Bathpool Chapel and St. Michael's in Galmington. A huge thank you to everyone!

Everyone had a fantastic time blessing the Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes at Bathpool Chapel in November last year. The children were treated to a puppet show from Creech St Michael called No Strings. Afterwards everyone enjoyed mince pies and refreshments together.

Here is a photo of the display we had in the school hall at Easter to celebrate Jesus coming back to life on Easter Day.

This was our harvest display last year. The children wrote  prayers to say thank you for the food we enjoy every day.

We hope you enjoyed our poppy display in the hall. Some classes added their own wreath of poppies.
